Deadline Thursday for SALT NCCC help

1/10/2017

SALT is seeking community projects that are in need of AmeriCorps National Civilian Corp (NCCC) volunteer labor.
The application is brief and asks applicants to explain their project, the number of hours or labor requested, and the date of their project.
Groups provide the project, site supervisor and materials. NCCC volunteers will provide the labor and SALT will provide the coordination.
Groups can apply for volunteers by filling out the application on the SALT website, saltdevelopment.org.
The deadline to submit applications is Thursday, January 12.
NCCCs can help:
•Clear debris.
•Repair and paint public facilities.
•Clean up rivers and streams.
•Plant trees.
•Collect data.
•Research grants.
•File, make phone calls.
•Assist in historical preservation.
•Renovate and construct homes.
•Implement trail development and maintenance.
•Work on neighborhood and community revitalization projects, and many other things.
With enough projects, SALT will host a six to eight week NCCC round in March and April to help with projects around Schoharie County.
AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) strengthens communities and develops leaders through direct, team-based, national and community service.
In partnership with non-profits - secular and faith based - local municipalities, state governments, federal governments, national and state parks, Indian tribes and schools, members complete service projects throughout the region to which they are assigned.
Currently, SALT is asking other community organizations and county agencies for community development projects that need volunteer assistance March 8 - April 21.
