The Village of Cobleskill is one of 16 lucky winners who'll be sharing nearly $60 million in state funding for updating municipal water and wastewater systems.
In awards announced by Governor Andrew Cuomo Thursday, the Village of Cobleskill will get a total of $5 million to install a new storage tank and expanded clear well capacity, water main replacements, and upgrades to booster station and pant controls.
Of the $5 million, $2.9 million comes from a NYS Water Grant, $433,400 from a zero-interest loan, $866,800 from a low-interest loan, and $800,000 from other sources.
The only other recipient in the Mohawk Valley region was the City of Gloversville, awarded a $3 million NYS Water Grant.
"This funding will provide critical infrastructure support to towns, villages and cities across New York as well as lay the foundation for future growth," Governor Cuomo said in making the announcement.
"By making strong investments in clean water infrastructure in these communities, we will help to secure a more sustainable, more prosperous and healthier New York for all."
