Richmondville residents expect to learn more next week about a 40-unit apartment complex that may be coming to their village.
At the same time, residents can have their say--or submit comments--about the project at the public hearing Thursday, April 13, at 6pm at the village office.
Plans about the complex became public a month ago. Syracuse-based Housing Visions proposes to build two 20-unit apartment buildings between Radez School and the planned Dollar General Store.
Although general outlines of the project are known, there are few details. These may become clear next Thursday.
Chris Trevisani, Housing Visions' director of development, attended two village planning board meetings in March but didn't describe the project.
The project drew public criticism at the second meeting, where residents wondered about Housing Visions' not-for-profit status, whether the apartments are needed, tenants, and additional traffic on the Radez driveway, which is actually a village street and is the planned access to the apartments.
Mr. Trevisani said then he'd answer those concerns next Thursday, when planning board members hope to learn more.
"They're supposed to make a presentation. That's my understanding," said Diana Spenello, planning board co-chair.
Ms. Spenello is asking residents to attend the meeting not only to hear about the project, but also to comment pro and con.
"If people can't come, they can send a letter or an email," she said.
