'Free tuition" info Thursday at SUNY

5/3/2017

State officials and SUNY leaders will kick off a tour of SUNY campuses and hold information sessions about the first-in-the nation program to provide tuition-free college at New York’s public colleges and universities to families making up to $125,000 a year, the Excelsior Scholarship.
The events will be open to the public, and students, parents and faculty are all encouraged to attend to learn how they can benefit from the scholarship.
The scholarships are for tuition only; details are still being released.
Under the Excelsior Scholarship, families and individuals making up to $125,000 per year, would qualify to attend college tuition-free at all CUNY and SUNY two- and four-year colleges in New York State, once any other scholarships are subtracted from the bill.
Locally, Guillermo Linares, acting president, New York State Higher Education Services Corporation, will host an Excelsior Scholarship information session at SUNY Cobleskill this Thursday, May 4, at 12:30pm in the Upper Champlin Dining Hall, 106 Suffolk Circle, Cobleskill.
