4th parade returns to Sharon--on the 4th

What better place to celebrate the Fourth of July than in Sharon Springs with a huge county-wide parade and food and entertainment to follow.
The parade begins at 10am on the Fourth of July. Following the parade, a chicken and rib barbeque will follow in the front lawn of Sharon Springs Central School. Entertainment will be from 11am-2pm provided by the Ira Metzger Band.
“The Chamber has received a lot of inquiries about participation in the parade,” says Chamber President Ron Ketelsen. “We are requesting that anyone who plans to enter a float or participate in the parade fill out a Parade Application found on the Chamber website. We anticipate this will be a huge parade and in order to stage and line up the parade, we need to know who is coming.”
“Each entry will be announced at the Reviewing Stand.
The theme for this year’s parade is “Portrait of an American Town.”
The parade will feature floats and entries from all over Schoharie County and beyond.
Anyone interested may enter floats, antiques cars, tractors, groups carrying banners, or something promoting their business.
Parade entries are encourages incorporate the parade theme into their floats.
The parade will begin at Dairyland on Route 20; proceed west on Highway 20 to Chestnut Street and proceeds to the Athletic Field off of Chestnut Street. The parade route is one mile long.
Many volunteers are still needed to make this year's event a success. Volunteer information can be found on the Sharon Springs Chamber website at the address below.
Registration for the parade is required and registration forms are due to the Chamber by June 30.
