Cobleskill Police are close to making arrests for the break-ins of 15 cars last month.
Officers are waiting for information from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office for a similar case there, Cobleskill Police Chief Rich Bialkowski said Monday.
The Cobleskill break-ins occurred the night of Saturday, June 17, and were practically village-wide. Cars were broken into on Elm Street, Washington Avenue, North Grand Street, North Street, Union Street, Iroquois Drive, Meadow Lane, Pine Street and Quarry Street.
Little of value was taken from the cars, but afterwards Chief Bialkowski urged residents to lock their cars at night and leave a light on if the cars were parked in a driveway.
At about the same time as the Cobleskill break-ins, law enforcement in Fulton County arrested four young men––at least one with Cobleskill connections––for a car break-in there.
Chief Bialkowski believes the Fulton County suspects could be the ones sought here.
“We’re waiting for documentation from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office to move forward with closing the case,” Chief Bialkowski said.
“And it’s still an ongoing investigation.”
He expected the information from Fulton County late this week or early next week.
