The non-profit Hero Fund America will launch the inaugural Hero Fund America Rally for First Responders on Saturday, September 23 starting at the Sharon Springs Fire House and ending at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York City.
This single-day event will benefit the nonprofit Hero Fund America, which makes grants via the Hero Fund America fund to support education and training for first responders.
“I was looking to create an experience that would directly tie into the mission of the organization, so that participants will not only enjoy a 200-plus mile scenic ride through the Catskills, but be able to connect more deeply with first responders and the critical roles they play in public service,” explained Matt McIvor, a Hero Fund America board member.
The road rally will begin with a full breakfast at the Sharon Springs Fire Department.
Registration is limited to the first 50 cars.
The route will be distributed on the day of the event and will contain no less than three stops, including lunch.
The registration fee includes participation for driver and co-pilot as well as breakfast, t-shirts for two, swag bags and vehicle rally decal kit.
Departures will begin promptly at 9:15am and with arrival time in New York City no later than 3:30pm.
The rally has already secured sponsorships from various automobile manufacturers. “We are thrilled to have an outpour of participation this year, and are still actively seeking additional corporate and regional support,” said Mr. McIvor. Hero Fund America was formed after the 2013 Boston Marathon tragedy in an effort to recognize first responders for their bravery and heroism during public emergencies.
The Hero Fund America Fund is administered through the Community Foundation of Oneida and Herkimer counties.
