Deputies injured in court incident

Three Schoharie County Deputy Sheriffs working security at the County Court were injured on last Wednesday morning when a spectator at a court proceeding attacked a defendant being sentenced.
At 11:45am, Rickie C. Mickle, 37, of Middleburgh ran to a table where the defendant was sitting and started to assault him, according to police.
The deputies and a county Probation Officer who were in the court stopped the attack and in doing so, three deputies were injured, police said.
One officer suffered a facial injury when she struck her face on a wooden table. Another deputy received a leg injury and the third suffered a hip injury, police added.
The deputies were taken the Cobleskill Regional Hospital for treatment and released, according to police.
Mr. Mickle was charged with second-degree criminal contempt and two counts of third-degree criminal mischief for breaking a deputy’s eye glasses and another deputy’s wrist watch, police said.
Other possible charges are pending against Mr. Mickle as the investigation continues, police added,
Mr. Mickle was arraigned in Schoharie Village Court and released to re-appear on November 20.
Neither Mr. Mickle nor the defendant suffered any injuries, police said.
