Summit sets meetings on home rehab grants

4/11/2018

The Town of Summit has been awarded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to assist full-time residents with home rehabilitation projects.
Grant funding is available for home rehabilitation projects that focus primarily on health and safety issues.
These projects can include repairs to roofs, heating and electrical systems, plumbing, foundations, windows and more. Funding can also be used for energy efficiency projects.
Applicants must own their home and it must be their sole and primary residence.
To be eligible residents must be at or below 80 percent of the Schoharie County median income which is: for a household of one, $46,560; two people $53,200, three people, $59,840, four people, $66,480.
The program will be administered by Western Catskills Community Revitalization Council.
Meetings will be held for eligible homeowners interested in applying on Wednesday, May 2 at 10am and again at 6pm at the Town Hall, at 1580 Charlotte Valley Road in the Town of Summit.
Fact sheets and applications will be available at those meetings.
“We have run very successful CDBG programs in Delaware, Schoharie, and Greene Counties and look forward to working with the Summit community on this one,” said Velga Kundzins, WCCRC executive director. We hope that all eligible residents will attend one of these meetings. Though sometimes people feel that it is a long process, it is completely possible for someone to attend one of these informational meetings in May and have repairs completed before next winter arrives.”
