Communities set Memorial Day plans

Local communities are gearing up to mark Memorial Day.
Events include the following:

Schohoharie
Schoharie’s American Legion will kick off Memorial Day celebrations Thursday with a 6:30pm parade featuring patriotic music and floats, followed by a short ceremony at Veteran’s Park, located on the corner of Main and Spring Streets.
After that there will be Grand Marshal presentations and prizes will be awarded to parade winners.
The parade’s 2018 Grand Marshal is the Esperance Fire Department, which is celebrating its 200 year.

Middleburgh
The Middleburgh American Legion will hold ceremonies at 10am Monday in Veterans Park on Route 145 past the school.
Ceremonies will follow in the Middleburgh Cemetery.

Cobleskill
Organized by American Legion Post #57, Cobleskill’s Memorial Day ceremonies will feature speaker Kirk Holmes at 10am Monday in Veterans Memorial Centre Park.

Esperance
Esperance’s annual Memorial Day parade will step off at 1pm Monday and travel down Route 20.
2018 marks Esperance’s bicentennial and Monday will also mark opening day of the Esperance Historical Museum, 123 Church Street.

Sharon
In Sharon Springs, the parade will begin at 11am at the school Monday; music will be provided by the Sharon Springs Central School Marching Band.
Supervisor Sandra Manko will be the guest speaker at ceremonies afterward by the monuments in front of the school.
