Rolphie Run raises $ for kids

Bikes roared and rolled in the Rolphie Fund Motorcycle Run to help needy kids on Saturday.
The run took off in the rain from the Cobleskill Fairgrounds at noon and traveled through Schoharie and Montgomery counties before returning to the Fairgrounds.
There, a party with music, barbecue and refreshments greeted the participants. New this year was a swap meet, organized by Joe Tracy, with all proceeds going to the Rolphie Fund.
The Fund is in memory of the late Rolph Karker, who was dedicated to helping children.
Justin Karker, Mr. Karker’s son, said 75 bikers took part.
“Considering the weather, that was phenomenal,” Mr. Karker said. “We had a lot of first-timers and were really pleased.
“Joe Tracy did a great job with the swap meet. We thought that brought in an extra 150 to 200 people.”
Mr. Karker estimated the Fund Run raised between $6,000 and $8,000. Fundraising will continue, including a raffle of a Harley Davidson bike.
