CPI meeting will chart course for future

A meeting June 26 will go a long way towards determining the future of Cobleskill Partnership Inc.
The downtown advocacy group, whose accomplishments range from economic development to family events, will meet at the Bull’s Head Inn at 6:30pm on the 26th.
CPI members are urged to come, according to President Brian Kaiser, but the meeting is open to anyone interested in downtown Cobleskill.
The thrust of the meeting will be to draw new board members––and new energy––into CPI, which has been active for 20 years.
Several board members retired over the past year. Even with fewer board members, CPI still hosted a dozen events, including Cobleskill Day, Arts in the Park, the holiday celebration and the Cobleskill Area Home Show, among others.
Now, however, CPI needs help.
“We’re looking for people who share the same passion for Cobleskill that we have to be involved on the board,” Mr. Kaiser said.
Besides hosting events, CPI in the past spearheaded community projects, including a grant program for downtown businesses to improve their facades and the construction of the plaza at the corner of Main and Division streets.
And CPI continues to maintain Cobleskill’s downtown look with hanging flower baskets, other plantings along Main Street and holiday decorations.
“We want to continue to help Cobleskill succeed with events and being business friendly and community friendly to residents and visitors,” said Mary Sagendorf, CPI secretary and board member.
‘Continuing,’ Ms. Sagendorf added, means getting more people involved.
Mayor Linda Holmes, also a board member, agreed.
“We need to reach out and say, ‘We need help,’ ” Mayor Holmes said.
