2 from Fort Plain killed in Route 145 accident

State Police are continuing an investigation into a one-car crash on Route 145 north of Cobleskill Monday that left two people dead.
The Cobleskill and Sharon Rescue Squads and AMR responded to the accident, near Empie Road, shortly after 3pm.
Route 145 was closed while one of the victims was extricated using the Jaws of Life and CPR was administered on another.
The crash is still under investigation by State Police units including the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and Collision Reconstruction.
No charges have been filed or tickets issued.
According to initial reports, a 2004 Honda operated by a 16-year-old from Fort Plain was traveling southbound on Route 145 when it crossed the center line, leaving the road and striking trees head-on.
The 16-year-old, a student at Canajoharie Central School, was airlifted to Albany Medical Center for surgery and expected to recover.
One of those killed in the accident was a sixth-grade Canajoharie student.
The other was an adult, believed related to the two youngsters.
At press time, police weren’t releasing names or any other information.
