Cops seek man in ATM "skimmer" plant

The Cobleskill Police Department is investigating the discovery of a “deep insert skimming device” inside an ATM at Community Bank, located at East Main Street.
Bank officials told police technicians had discovered the device, which isn’t attached to nor visible on the outside of the ATM machine.
Skimming devices secretly capture credit card information and can be used to clone cards, access accounts, and make purchases.
Upon investigation, police determined that a person of interest in the investigation is also responsible for using and attempting to use similar skimming devices at other banks and in multiple locations across New York State.
The CPD is working closely with Community Bank and its security staff and has also consulted with the US Secret Service and FBI offices in Albany as well as other police agencies who have cases involving the same person of interest.
Police have also contacted other local banks and informed them of the situation.
Anyone who believes their Community Bank ATM account may have been compromised can contact Community Bank Corporate Security at (315) 445-7303.
Anyone who recognizes the person of interest from the photo is asked to contact Cobleskill Police at (518) 234-2923.
