Fire training in Worcester

9/5/2018

The New York State Association of Fire Chiefs (NYSAFC) will host “Thermal Imaging: Expanding Your Horizons,” the association’s 2018 Seminar Series program led by instructors Chief Bruce Heberer of the Johnstown Fire Department and Schenectady County Fire Coordinator Scott Pike, this fall in Otsego County.
The Seminar Series includes 14 programs conducted throughout the State of New York for fire service leaders of all ranks.
The Otsego County program will take place on September 17, beginning at 7pm at the Worcester Fire Department (36 Church Street, Worcester).
This three-hour seminar will include two segments: A lecture outlining the various uses of thermal imaging cameras by the fire service, followed by an audiovisual presentation and projection of a thermal imager utilizing telemetry.
In addition to aiding them at structures, students will learn how these units can assist emergency responders at motor vehicle accidents, haz-mat incidents, searches for lost victims in wooded areas, wildland fires, and to discover escaping vapors.
The training will help firefighters to better understand how they can use this tool and technology to its full potential and maximize their department’s investment in this state-of-the-art equipment.
