9/19/2018 |
New York State Democrats may have put their support behind Andrew Cuomo for a third term as governor Thursday, but in Schoharie County, they went for Cynthia Nixon.
Ms. Nixon, a New York City activist and actress, polled 634 votes to Governor Cuomo’s 513.
Incumbent Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, however, was a local winner, outpolling Jumanne Williams 624-480.
Statewide, Letitia James won the Dems’ nod for attorney general, outpolling three other candidates.
But locally, voters went with Zephyr Teachout with 386 votes.
Sean Patrick Maloney got 386 votes; Ms. James, 102; and Leecia Eve, 43.
In November, Governor Cuomo will face Republican Marcus Molinaro; Ms. Hochul is running against Julie Powers Killian, and Ms. James, against Keith Wofford.
Also on the November ballot:
First-term GOP Congressman John Faso is being challenged by Democrat Antonio Delgado; State Republican Senator Jim Seward is running against Democrat Joyce St. George; and Assemblyman Chris Tague, a Republican, is facing Democrat Aidan O’Connor.
The three Republican candidates will be opening their Main Street, Cobleskill campaign headquarters today, Wednesday, at 1pm.
