The SALT Development Board of Directors has announced that the SALT Community Development Project Fund application is now open.

Eligible applicants include local nonprofits, community organizations, service of faith-based groups, including but not limited to: 4-H, Scouts, Key Club, and food pantries.
Applicants must be coordinating projects in Schoharie County that benefit the community.
Youth-led projects are eligible for up to $250; community development projects are eligible for up to $500.
Deadlines for the process follow:
•October 12 – Grant opens, application posted on SALTDevelopment.org.
•October 29 – Questions submitted to info@saltdevelopment.org by 5pm.
•November 5 – Q&A posted on website.
•November 30 at 3pm – Grant applications are due.
•December 10 – Grant awards announced.

In addition, SALT Development has partnered with CeCe’s Wool Farm Store and local dyer Kelly Shultes to create a locally-processed and dyed yarn, “Schoharie Valley Rising.”
Proceeds from the yarn are supporting SALT’s Community Development Project Fund.
The colors for “Schoharie Valley Rising” yarn were inspired by Schoharie artist Elizabeth Apgar-Smith’s painting “The Valley Rising.”
The yarn, made from New York Corriedale wool spun by Battenkill Fiber of Greenwich, is currently available for sale at CeCe’s Wool Farm, located at 169 Main Street in Esperance and at Schoharie Valley Farms, Route 30 in Schoharie.
The yarn is also available for purchase online at Ceceswool.com/yarn/Schoharie-valley-rising-yarn/Schoharie-valley-rising-yarn/.
SALT is a not-for-profit organization created in 2011 in response to the devastating flooding caused by Hurricane Irene.
SALT was instrumental in coordinating volunteers and distributing donations and supplies after the flood and continues to work on building resilient and sustainable communities.
