Joshua Project, friends deliver Thanksgiving

The Joshua Project and its allies delivered turkeys and all the trimmings to more than 200 families this past weekend.
A faith-based group whose volunteers help the less fortunate, the Joshua Project linked with Cobleskill Police, Masons and others for the Thanksgiving project.
“This is going really well,” said Pat Costello, the Joshua Project’s regional coordinator, as volunteers loaded turkeys and groceries into cars at the Middleburgh United Methodist Church.
“We bought 254 turkeys, and we’re going to deliver every one,” Mr. Costello added.
The effort is coordinated. Large families receive big turkeys; small families get smaller birds. All families get bags of side dishes and home-made apple pies to complete Thanksgiving dinner.
At Middleburgh on Saturday, Rick and Karen Connor traced routes on a map for those delivering, some of them trucking as many as 10 turkeys and dinners.
Joshua Project volunteers repeated the process at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Central Bridge on Sunday. They also delivered 50 turkeys and groceries to the Cobleskill Police, who delivered in the village.
Chris Quandt and Jan Dano coordinated this year’s Thanksgiving project.
The Thanksgiving deliveries aren’t the only Joshua Project effort. About 100 volunteers perform similar good-will endeavors through the year––including helping with the Schoharie County Christmas for Kids.
