We need your T-J Star nominations

12/12/2018

In between your Christmas shopping and holiday celebrating, there’s something we need you to do:
Nominate your pick for the 2018 Times-Journal Star.
“And please don’t wait until the last minute,” said T-J Editor Patsy Nicosia, who coordinates the 26-year-old Star search.
“We know it’s tempting to wait until the deadline, but the more time we have to consider the nominations, the more time we have to look at them.”
The T-J Star recognizes someone who’s positively impacted the community, usually over time—not just in one year or one event—and usually in ways not connected with their job.
Past Stars have included farmers, musicians, peacemakers, and advocates for kids and the elderly; the 2017 Star was Mary Lou Garrett, chosen in part for her volunteer work with the Animal Shelter of Schoharie County and the Cobleskill Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
“But there’s so much more to Mary Lou—and in fact all of our Stars,” said Ms. Nicosia. “That’s one of the best things about picking a Star. We learn new things about people we’ve known for years.”
Deadline for nominations is 5pm Friday, December 21 and they can be made in a variety of ways:
--Email them to tjournalnews@yahoo.com and put TJ Star in the subject line.
--By phone, ((518) 234-7898.
--By mail, PO Box 339, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
Nominations should include the name of the person being nominated and why he or she deserves to be the 2018 T-J Star.
Include the name of the person doing the nominating and contact information in case we have questions or want more information.
