Four Chaplains Services start Sunday at Grosvenors Corners UMC

1/30/2019

The Four Chaplains Service is scheduled to be held at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Middleburgh on Sunday, February 3 at 11am; at the Grosvenors Corners United Methodist Church at 1148 Grosvenors Corners Road in Central Bridge on Sunday, February 10 at 9am; at the Gallupville Evangelical Lutheran Church on Sunday, February 17 at 9am; and at the Charleston Church at 1360 East Lykers Road, Charleston Four Corners on Sunday, February 24 at 11am.
The service commemorates the four Army chaplains who gave their lives when their ship was torpedoed by a German U-boat during World War II.
When the life jackets ran out, the chaplains removed their life jackets, gave them to men, and went down with the ship in the icy waters of the North Atlantic.
The community, veterans service organizations, and local veterans are cordially invited to attend these services.
