Schoharie will be the first to mark Memorial Day with a parade featuring 2019 Grand Marshal Bill Cherry Thursday, May 23 at 6:30pm.

Mr. Cherry has served as Schoharie County treasurer for the past 24 years and is retiring in December.
He also served as a village trustee for several years and as supervisor.
A short Memorial Day ceremony at Veteran’s Park, located at the corner of Main and Spring Streets, will follow the parade; there will also be Grand Marshal presentations and the announcement of parade winners.
The parade and ceremony are hosted by the Schoharie Unit #1261 of the American legion Auxiliary.
Sponsors are still needed for the 12 parade awards.

In Sharon Springs, the Memorial Day lineup will start at 10:30am at the school on Monday, Memorial Day.
The parade will step off at 11am with music provided by the Sharon Springs Central School Band under the direction of Ron Letteron.
In the event of bad weather, the ceremony and address will be in the school auditorium.
Following the parade, a memorial ceremony and address will be conducted at the monuments in front of the school with speaker Thomas Slater, a scholar on the United States Constitution.
As always, floats and motorized vehicles are discouraged in the parade, except for those used to transport disabled veterans and auxiliary members.
A BBQ by the SSCS freshman class will follow the parade and ceremonies with tickets available at the door or from any freshman.
In the days before Memorial Day, the Sharon Springs American Legion will be placing flags in the Leesville, Slate Hill and People’s Cemeteries as well as in private cemeteries to honor more than 260 veterans from the Revolutionary War.
In Middleburgh, the Rotary will host a Memorial Day ceremony Monday, the 27th, at 11am in Memorial Park.
In Central Bridge, a parade at 11am will be followed by a ceremony on the green across from the firehouse.
In Esperance, parade lineup will be 1pm at the old Farmer Supply Building west of the village.
The parade marches to the cemetery, where there will be a service at the flag.
Worcester’s Memorial Day parade will step off from the school at 10am followed by services at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
The Worcester Central School Band, American Legion and Auxiliary, Fire Department and DAR will be among those participating.
The Town of Fulton Veteran’s Park will be the site of a Memorial Day remembrance event Thursday, May 30, at 7pm.
The park is located south of Breakabeen at Bielfeldt Road.
