Albany County Sheriff’s deputies charged a Middleburgh woman with driving while intoxicated after a fatal accident early Sunday morning.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were called to a single-vehicle accident in the Town of Rensselaerville at 2:42am Sunday.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies “observed the operator, Harley A. Kelly, 19, of Middleburgh to be out of the vehicle and sitting nearby,” according to the Sheriff’s Office news release.
The report continued:
“A 19-year-old female passenger from Middleburgh was unresponsive and not breathing. Efforts to revive the passenger by Albany County medical personnel were unsuccessful and she was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
The Sheriff’s Office later identified the deceased as Emily Fydenkevez of Middleburgh.
Ms. Kelley suffered injuries and was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment.
