DCS names interim superintendent

The Duanesburg Central School District Board of Education announced at its October 8 meeting that Jeffery Ziegler will serve as interim superintendent of schools while a search is conducted to fill the position being vacated by current Superintendent Frank Macri, who accepted a superintendent position with Voorheesville Schools.
Mr. Ziegler will begin serving as interim superintendent in November, with Mr. Macri departing in December.
Mr. Ziegler is an educational consultant who most recently served as interim director of curriculum, assessment, instruction and student support services at Lake George Central School District.
He previously served as interim director of curriculum at Schuylerville Central School District, after serving as superintendent of schools at Fort Edward Union Free School District.
Mr. Ziegler has also held administrative positions at Glens Falls City School District, Central Square School District and Union Endicott School District, and he’s worked as a teacher and school community counselor in the Homer, DeRuyter, Edwards and Gouverneur central school districts.
Mr. Ziegler holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Administration and a Master of Science in Health Education from the State University of New York at Cortland, and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from the State University of New York at Brockport.
He is a member of the New York State Council of School Superintendents, American Association of School Administrators, and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. In the past, Ziegler has coached youth football, baseball and ice hockey.

The Duanesburg Board of Education is working with Anita Murphy, District Superintendent of Capital Region BOCES, as a consultant during the superintendent search process.
The board’s goal is to have a new DCS superintendent in place by summer 2020.
