The Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office has been continuing to investigate reports of at least four gunshots fired into homes since December 15.
Investigators received initial reports of shots fired into two Town of Seward homes on Sunday, December 15 and believe the homes were struck the night before, Saturday the 14th.
As deputies investigated those incidents, they received reports of two others:
One in the Village of Richmondville and another in the Town of Carlisle.
They’ve verified that the incident in Richmondville also took place on Saturday, December 14, and believe that the Carlisle incident also occurred in the same timeframe.
Saturday, December 21, the Sheriff’s Office received word from a Town of Seward resident, who reported hearing gun shots.
Patrols responded to the area, however there have been no additional reports of any buildings or objects being struck by gunfire.
Evidence has been gathered from the residences that were hit and is being evaluated at the State Police Lab in Albany.
The Sheriff’s Office is being assisted in the investigations by the State Police, Cobleskill Village Police and State Environmental Conservation Police.
Police are continuing to follow-up on several leads and anyone with any information or who sees any activity suggesting possible involvement in the crimes is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (518) 295-8114 or the anonymous tip line, (518) 295-2295.
Just don’t bother with Facebook.
“We will not be responding to any posts on social media and urge those making posts to refrain from posting any information not issued by the Sheriff’s Office,” police said in a statement.
“Law enforcement is taking this matter very seriously and is focusing all available resources on the investigation.”
