Community Thanksgiving organizers to meet Saturday

10/14/2020

Organizers of Schoharie County’s Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be meeting Saturday to see it there’s a way they can pull off the longtime event.
Anyone interested in helping out can attend the meeting, 9am at the Office of Emergency Services on Route 7 (the former MOSA) or call or email Kevin Neary at (518) 221-2214, Kneary@rville.org.
Mr. Neary, who’s been involved with the Thanksgiving Dinner from the start 31 years ago, said he thinks they can find a way to do it even during COVID with just home-delivered meals.
“The Office for the Aging is still delivering meals, so that seems like a model we could follow,” he said.
“I think it would be safest.”
Typically, the Thanksgiving Dinner provides both sit-down and home-delivered meals to those looking for a way to celebrate the holiday.
In 2019, the effort provided more than 400 home-delivered meals and served 50 at a sit-down dinner at the United Presbyterian Church in Schoharie.
