Strong Together: T-J at work on 2021 Progress Edition

12/9/2020

The Times-Journal is in the early stages of producing its giant 2021 Progress edition with an aim to help businesses during the pandemic.
Started in the 1980s, Progress promotes businesses in Schoharie and neighboring counties and will do so again in ’21.
But there’s a twist.
This Progress edition has a theme, ‘Strong Together,’ that emphasizes the need for businesses and the community to support one another.
It’s a takeoff on the longstanding county slogan of ‘Go Local’ to encourage customers––and business owners themselves––to shop here.
Doing so this year is especially important because local stores have suffered so much during the pandemic, said T-J Sales Manager Bruce Tryon.
“Strong together. . .it’s the need to work together to get out from underneath this pandemic,” he added.
“This year ‘shop local’ is more than a slogan. It’s survival for many businesses in and around Schoharie County.’
Businesses advertising in Progress also get a photo or story describing their goods, services and people.
Usually about 100 pages, the magazine has wide distribution. The T-J will mail it February 23 to every household in Schoharie County, plus Worcester, East Worcester, Roseboom and Cherry Valley in Otsego County and Stamford and Grand Gorge in Delaware County.
The circulation is about 23,000.
“Progress is a relatively inexpensive way for businesses to promote themselves,” Mr. Tryon said, adding that readers keep the magazine as a shopping reference all year.
“No other medium has such full coverage––this year of all years,” he added.
Interested business owners can call Mr. Tryon or Sales Rep Denise Leinbach at the T-J office, 518-234-2515.
