Prep work begins on Cobleskill urgent care

Prep work began last week at what will be the site of a new urgent care center in Cobleskill.
Contractors began demolishing the building at the corner of East Main Street and Legion Drive, across from McDonald’s.
The coming facility will be a WellNow Urgent Care Center, according to plans received by Cobleskill Village Codes Officer Mike Piccolo.
WellNow treats illnesses and everything from “bumps and bruises to sprains and strains,” according to its website, and also offers X-rays and other diagnostics.
Devin DelPos of Saratoga Springs owns the Cobleskill site. Contacted Friday, Mr. DelPos said he has partners in Boston and Rochester and has developed urgent care centers in Gloversville and Saratoga and also in central and western New York.
He and his partners will be leasing the facility to WellNow.
“It should be a nice addition to the town and that intersection,” Mr. DelPos said.
The building will be one story and 3,500 square feet, smaller than the one being demolished.
Plans call for green spaces and 28 parking spaces.
Construction should be finished later this year, although Mr. DelPos couldn’t give an estimated date.
J. Luke Construction is the contractor.
Mayor Becky Terk recruited an urgent care facility in December 2019, shortly after she became mayor.
The Cobleskill Village Planning Board approved the site plan in June, and the Schoharie County Planning Commission approved the plan in September.
The building at the corner of East Main and Legion housed Rua and Sons, the Schoharie County Community Action Program, Countryman Auto Parts and Mattress Mattress and Discount Furniture over its history.
