Cobleskill State Police arrested 37-year-old Liam M. O’Connor of Richmondvlle on assault charges following a one-car accident at the intersection of Routes 165 and 10 in the Town of Seward last WQednesday, June 2.
According to Troopers, at approximately 8:46pm, they responded to the accident, where they determined that Mr. O’Connor had been traveling east on Route 165 in a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the Route 10 intersection and collided with a guard rail on the eastern shoulder.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, they said.
While speaking with Mr. O’Connor, the responding Trooper reported the odor of alcohol on his breath and observed signs of impairment.
While being treated by EMS, Troopers said Mr. O’Connor became combative; he is accused of attacking members of the EMS and fire crew that had arrived to assist him.
Mr. O’Connor violently resisted arrest, Troopers said, and attempted to kick a Schoharie County Sheriff’s deputy and firefighters when they assisted in putting him in a patrol car for transport to SP Cobleskill.
Once at the station, Mr. O’Connor was administered the standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed.
He provided a breath sample of .14 percent BAC.
Mr. O’Connor was charged with assault, second degree, a Class D felony; misdemeanor DWI; obstruction of governmental administration, second degree, a Class A misdemeanor; and resisting arrest, a Class A misdemeanor.
