Lifetime Ag Award for Schoharie

David Marbot of Schoharie, was awarded the LifetimeAchievement Award by the New York Association of Agricultural Educators, during the NYAAE Annual Business and Awards Meeting on June 23.
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes retired NYAAE members who have made significant contributions to agricultural education throughout New York State.
Mr. Marbot retired from Schoharie Central School in 2020.
Throughout his career he was honored with the NYAAE Outstanding Teacher Award, National Association of Agricultural Educators Region 6 Ideas Unlimited Winner, NYAAE Teachers of Teachers Award and was a NYAAE Teacher Mentor finalist.
Additionally, during his time in the classroom and as an FFA advisor, Mr. Marbot had over 130 students obtain their New York State FFA Empire Degree, 38 students receive their American FFA Degree and over 100 students who were on state winning Career and Leadership Development Teams representing New York at the national and regional level.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized for a lifetime achievement award but it takes a whole community of support to develop a thriving and successful Agricultural Program,” Mr. Marbot said.
“Thanks to everyone who has supported me and the Schoharie Valley FFA through their time, energies or financially to assist a member or the FFA program.”
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Marbot completed many terms as a member of the New York Association of Agricultural Educators Governing Board, was the chairman of the New York State Teacher Certification Exam Committee, represented NYAAE on the New York State Professional CTE Organizations, and was a voice for agricultural education on the State Education Department Career and Technical Education Development Team.
“Dave is the type of teacher I wanted to be.” Said Tara Berescik, Tri-Valley Central School Agricultural Educator.
“He helped me develop a healthy desire to train state officers, prepare winning teams, design creative lessons and most especially achieve the goal to be loved by my students and community members the way he is. Dave spent his teaching career inspiring others and he continues to do that in his retirement.”
Mr. Marbot is now one the regional finalists competing to be named the National Association of Agricultural Educators Region 6 Lifetime Achievement Winner, with the honoree being announced later this summer.
