Lights out? Call the mayor

Cobleskill Mayor Becky Terk wants to know what street lights are out in the village.
A complaint surfaced last week that many of the antique-style lights aren’t illuminated––at the corner of North Grand and Main, by CVS and on East Main to Wal-Mart.
The person who pointed this out to the T-J works at night and was concerned about safety.
The lights immediately downtown are the responsibility of National Grid; the ones towards Wal-Mart are the village’s duty, Mayor Terk said.
She urged anyone who noticed a light that’s out to call the village office, 518-234-3891 and also include the pole number on the light. The village office would then contact National Grid if necessary.
“Just let us know,” Mayor Terk said. “You’re not being a complainer. You’re being helpful.”
