Schoharie Reformed Church to mark 3 centuries

The Schoharie Reformed Church is 300 years old and will be celebrating with a five-month long birthday party that begins August 27.
In recognition that the church has served the community during four different centuries, Schoharie Reformed Church will have four historic worship services examining the role of the church in the 1700s, 1800s, 1900s and 2000s.
These services are scheduled for September 12 (1700s), October 10 (1800s), November 14 (1900s) and December 12 (2000s).
From the pulpit speakers will examine the role of the church in 1775, 1863, 1955 and 2021.
These were significant years as the church struggled to find its way through war, civil unrest and the changing role of the church.
Guests are invited to come hear how the minister works his and her way through these problems.
The High Dutch Reformed Church of Schoharie was officially founded in 1721.
Three-hundred years later it is still actively serving the Schoharie community.
Much history happened over those 300 years: The country was born, a war was fought to preserve the country, more wars were waged, a great depression gripped the country, the atomic age came about, political strife and unrest gripped the country, and floods ravaged the Valley.
Through it all the Schoharie Reformed Church has remained an important member of the community, serving God by serving others for centuries.
The birthday celebration will also serve as an opportunity to raise funds to preserve the historic stained-glass windows in the church sanctuary.
The following celebratory events are planned.
