2 positive cases at SCS; an additional death in Schoharie County

Schoharie Central School has reported both a staff member and a student have tested positive for COVID.
Also, Friday, Schoharie County reported one additional COVID-19 death for a total of 19, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
SCS said Monday that it had learned Sunday evening, September 12, that a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
Tuesday, SCS reported that student had tested positive.
Contact tracing was completed and all students and staff identified as subject to quarantine were notified in both cases.
SUNY Cobleskill reported four student positives over a rolling three days Tuesday.
Locally, the risk of transmission remains high.
According to the CDC, that means everyone in Schoharie County should wear a mask in public, indoor settings.
From Monday, September 6 through Saturday, September 12, there were 74 new COVID cases with three new hospital admissions.
The positivity rate is 11.16 percent.
Tuesday, the state Health Department reported 2,2023 COVID cases here, an increase of seven from Monday.
Fifty-five percent of the eligible population is fully vaccinated.
