Troopers arrest MA man for lying at traffic stop

Saturday, State Police in Cobleskill arrested 46-year-old Andrew VanZandt of Marlborough, Massachusetts for two counts of criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fourth degree (a Class “C” felony), criminal impersonation in the second degree (a Class “A” misdemeanor) and DAWI—drugs—(a Class “A” misdemeanor) following a traffic stop.
State Police stopped Mr. VanZandt for a traffic infraction as he traveled on I-88 in the Town of Schoharie Saturday afternoon.
During the stop, Troopers discovered that Mr. VanZandt was impaired and in possession of LSD and Ketamine.
He provided a false identity to Troopers along with the Michigan driver’s license of the individual he was attempting to impersonate.
Mr. VanZandt was taken into custody without incident and later arraigned in Schoharie Town Court.
He is due back in court on November 22 for further court proceedings.
