Cobleskill parents charged in baby's broken bones

State Police have arrested Justin R. and Desyree R. Van Alstyne of Cobleskill on charges of assault and endangering the welfare of their then-seven-month-old son after he was hospitalized with multiple arm and leg fractures Troopers said were inflicted by his father.
The October 13 arrest followed an 18-month investigation.
According to State Police, on April 14, 2020, the BCI responded to the Albany Medical Center Emergency Department for a report of a seven-month-old male child with multiple arm and leg fractures.
Troopers said the parents, Desyree R. Van Alstyne, 19, and Justin R. Van Alstyne, 24, were interviewed regarding the cause and nature of their son’s injuries.
Following an additional investigation, both parents to take preventative steps to ensure their son’s safety.
In addition, investigators determined that the injuries were caused by Mr. Van Alstyne.
He was arrested on charges of one count of second degree assault, a Class D felony, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor.
He was arraigned in Town of Richmondville Court and released in his own recognizance with a return date of November 10 at 2pm.
Ms. Van Alstyne was arrested on one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
She was released with an October 27, 2pm appearance ticket for Town of Richmondville Court.
