11/4/2021 |
About 120 local veteran banners will be retired on Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11 at 11am in Cobleskill’s Veterans’ Memorial Centre Park.
The banners – hanging along village streets since Memorial Day – will be retired for the season to specially-designed wooden boxes depending on the branch of service – Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines.
Relatives and friends will be invited to assist in retiring their banners.
The event will be hosted by the AMVETS Post 175 and Fred L. Stilson American Legion Post 57.
Local historian Pete Lindemann will give a brief address about a local scientist who tested a new device atop Vroman’s Nose –and helped win World War II.
