Cobleskill Regional restricts visits

Cobleskill Regional Hospital has restricted visiting hours, as have other Bassett hospitals.
And those limited hours may continue through February, according to Eric Stein, hospital president and Bassett’s Southern Region executive.
CRH is allowing no visitors to its Emergency Department unless the visitor “is absolutely necessary to the patient,” Mr. Stein said.
As for in-patients, one support person is permitted to visit between 2pm and 6pm, Mr. Stein said.
“Initially there were no visitors for in-patients,” Mr. Stein added, though that restriction has been relaxed.
The restricted visits come not because of an increase in COVID cases but because “the variants are so contagious,” Mr. Stein said.
“It’s to protect the staff, patients and visitors.”
Overall, he added, the hospital is faring well as the pandemic continues.
“Cobleskill Regional is doing okay,” Mr. Stein said. “We have some staffing challenges, like all hospitals, but we’re in relatively good shape.”
