The Village of Cobleskill took another step towards what to do with Teen Town and Golding Park Tuesday night.
Village Attorney Michelle Storm said she’s preparing an Article 15 to present in court to determine that the village is the sole owner of the park off North Grand Street.
Ms. Storm also said she’s researching the title for the 11-acre park because there are “gaps in the deed search.”
The legal process is lengthy, however, Mayor Becky Terk said afterwards, and there’s no timetable for what may happen next.
Mayor Terk said in the past that selling Golding Park––troubled with vandalism and other illegal activity––may be Cobleskill’s best option.
At earlier meetings, several residents pushed for keeping the park and upgrading it so that it’s more accommodating for the public.
Selling the park––if it came to that––would require an act by the state legislature, Mayor Terk said.
In other business Tuesday night, trustees set a public hearing on a zoning change for cannabis dispensaries in the village. The hearing will be at the next board meeting March 15.
The plan is to allow dispensaries in Commercial/Industrial zones––such as the Aker complex on South Grand Street––and the village Gateway east, from McCarthy Tire to Walmart.
