Huntersland Road work delayed; Ecker Hollow closed in middle

Some good-news, bad news for Town of Middleurgh roads.
Construction of the county’s culvert project on Huntersland Road likely won’t happen this year, said Highway Superintendent Steve Kowalski, after just one bid was received.
Additionally, Ecker Hollow Road is closed to traffic after a culvert failure about midway down the road.
There’s still access from both ends of Route 145, Mr. Kowalski said Thursday, but no thru-traffic until it can be replaced.
Also Thursday, the Town Board approved a resolution that prohibits existing apartment complexes from being switched to condominiums.
Because condo home owner associations assume the cost of things like road maintenance and landscaping, they’re assessed about one--third lower than traditional apartment buildings.
The law won’t impact projects already on the tax rolls, including Middleburgh Meadows.
