Maple Festival on tap for April 30

4/14/2022

The Schoharie County Maple Festival is back.
After being sidelined by COVID in 2020 and 2021, the Festival returns to the Cobleskill Fairgrounds on Saturday, April 30.
“It looks good right now,” Maple Festival President Jerry Lape said Tuesday. “COVID’s backed off. That kept us at bay.”
As always, there’s free admission to the Festival.
The Festival will open at 8am with the Cobleskill Fire Department’s pancake breakfast, and there will be crafts, food and maple products available all day.
The Iona Troupe of Irish dancers will perform, as will country singer Krystal Lee and the TLC Country Cloggers.
The Human Services Coordinating Council will have a showcase of community agencies.
At past Festivals, there’s been a crowning of a new Maple Queen. Mr. Lape said the Festival committee is looking for contestants, and anyone interested should call Jeri Betsinger at 518-823-4402.
After two years of being restricted by COVID, people are looking for traditional events, Mr. Lape said.
“All the participants are looking forward to this,” he said. “It should be a good day. People are ready to go.”
