Maple, Wildlife Festivals promise plenty of fun

4/28/2022

Family events will be front and center in Cobleskill on Saturday.
The Schoharie County Maple Festival will be at the Sunshine Fairgrounds starting at 8am, and SUNY Cobleskill’s Wildlife Festival will be in Veterans’ Memorial Centre park starting at 10am.
Both events are free.
The 55th showing of the Maple Festival kicks off with the Cobleskill Fire Department’s pancake breakfast, followed by the Iona Dance Troupe performing Irish dancing at 10:30.
Country singer Krystal Lee will perform from 11am to 4pm, and the TLC Country Cloggers, accompanied by musicians Tom White and Hank Lamont, will perform at 12:15.
A show case of community agencies, presented by the Schoharie County Human Services Coordinating Council, will be available 9am to 3pm.
There will be crafts, food, maple products and activities for kids all day.
The Wildlife Festival, by the college’s Fisheries and Wildlife Deopartment, features a live birds of prey show by Wes Laraway, youth target shooting by Jake’s Take Aim Trailer, and an interactive reptile exhibit.
Also, there will be a youth fishing derby with poles and bait available and trophies, and prizes will also be awarded in a rubber duck race.
Live animals––hawks, snakes, lizards and more––will be on hand, as will local exhibitors, outdoor organizations, the Landis Arboretum and private, local, and state agencies.
Refreshments will be available.
The Bank of Richmondville is a sponsor.
