All our school budgets pass; incumbents keep seats

Voters in all Times-Journal area school districts approved 2022-23 budgets in voting Tuesday.
Cobleskill-Richmondville voters overwhelmingly approved the $44.9 million budget, 741 to 234.
Voters re-elected Mary Black to the school board with 652 votes, and newcomer Jason Gagnon was elected to the board with 608 votes.
Totals for other candidates were 307 for Jess Lawton, 263 for Vic Taylor and 79 for Monique Thomas.
Voters also approved a $4 million transfer from fund balance, or savings, to C-R’s capital reserve fund. The vote was 793-179.
The budget for The Community Library also passed, 712-263.
Voters elected Janet Sand, Rebecca Leggieri and Leo McAllister to the library board.
Schoharie Central School voters approved their $25.9 million budget by 231 to 94.
They also approved a $25.9 million capital project by 211 to 113, and a separate $2.75 million energy project by 217 to 107.
A repair reserve was approved by a vote of 226 to 96 and a school bus proposition was approved by a 226 to 94 vote.
In the school board race, all incumbents were reelected: Terry Burton with 220 votes, Daniel Guasp with 192 votes, and Tara Barton with 220 votes.

Middleburgh Central School voters approved the district’s $23.8 million budget by a margin of 233 to 120 and reelected Vicki Hoerz and Debra Bechtold to the school board with 244 and 228 votes respectively.
They also approved a proposition to purchase three school busses.
Sharon Springs Central School voters easily passed their $10.2 million budget, 125 to 22, and approved a $180,000 bus resolution, 116 to 24.
They also approved a $4.6 million building project, 120 to 27, and elected Brandi Kerber to the school board with 83 votes; Kelly Button had 48 votes.
Worcester Central School voters easily approved the $11.9 million budget, 103 to 37.
Voters also approved a proposition to establish a capital reserve fund so that the district could set aside money for construction and major purchases.
Tanya Shaylor, running unopposed, was elected to the school board.
Voters at Gilboa-Conesville Central School approved their $11.2 million budget and re-elected Karl Gockel to the school board.
Jefferson Central School voters passed their $7.5 million budget, 69 to 29.
They also approved the purchase of one bus, 68 to 30, and transferring $100,000 from fund balance, or savings, to a repair fund. The vote was 78 to 19.
Andy Van Glad received 83 votes and was elected to the school board. Jon Leas received one write-in vote.
