Bruce Tryon hopes 13 is his lucky number.
Cobleskill-Richmondville school board members re-elected Mr. Tryon as board president for the 13th consecutive year at C-R’s organizational meeting Monday night.
Mr. Tryon is beginning his 15th year on the board. He’s served one year as vice president and 12 as president.
Mr. Tryon had considered stepping down as president, but with the change in superintendents, he decided to re-up.
Former superintendent Carl Mummenthey left for Niskayuna, Dave Sander is now acting superintendent, and Matt Sickles will become superintendent in September.
“With the superintendent transition from Carl Mummenthey to Dave Sander and eventually from Dave to Matt, Sickles, maintaining the same board leadership, I believe, is critical.
“There has been and will continue to be communication between myself, Carl, Dave and Matt to ensure that the district will be ready to welcome back students and staff this September,” he said.
Board members also re-elected Steve Philbrick as vice president; he’s been vice president for several years.
New board member Jason Gagnon and re-elected board member Mary Black took their oaths of office for their new terms.
