Delanson man charged with stealing siding for scrap

State Police from Princetown have arrested a Delanson man on multiple charges after they said he was caught removing siding from a home with plans to sell it for scrap metal.
On Sarturday, August 20, Troopers arrested James Dashnaw, 51, of Delanson, on charges of criminal mischief in the third degree, a Class “E” felony; petit larceny, a Class “A” misdemeanor; possession of burglar tools, a Class “A” misdemeanor; conspiracy in the fifth degree, a Class “A” misdemeanor; and criminal trespass in the third degree, a Class “B” misdemeanor.
Troopers said at about 9:08am on the 20th, they responded to a call at a home on Western Turnpike in the Town of Duanesburg reporting a man was removing siding from the house.
The investigation determined that Mr. Dashnaw was trespassing on the property to steal the siding for the purpose of selling it as scrap metal.
He did not have the homeowner’s permission to do so, Troopers said.
Mr. Dashnaw was arrested and transported to State Police Princetown for processing.
He was then transported to Schenectady County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
