Wright PB considering Dollar General

2/16/2023

Wright’s Planning Board will continue its review of the Dollar General proposed for Route 443 in Gallupville when it meets tonight, Thursday, at 7:30pm at the Municipal Building on School Street.
The project, a 10,640 square-foot building with 34 parking spaces east of Drebitko Road, is being proposed by Primax Properties on three acres owned by Arrow Springs Farm; Primax is being represented by Bohler Engineering.
Planning Board members completed sketch plan review for the project in November, recommending additional landscaping, a privacy fence, and changes to the look of the building.
It’s now under environmental and site plan review.
Access will be off Route 443 and DOT has requested a sidewalk from the store to Route 443.
Bohler rep Matt Lessard has said the Dollar General will employ a total of 10 people, two to four at a time.
If the project is approved, the construction timeline will be about four months.
Neighbors and residents have raised concerns over traffic, lighting, the loss of farmland, stormwater runoff, and the impact to their property values.
Others have told the Planning Board that they welcome the store and the opportunity to shop locally as well as the benefit to the tax base.
