Lily Fest blooms in Schoharie

7/6/2023

The Lily Festival in Schoharie will be a celebration of summer on Saturday.
Held in the Lily Park by the Old Stone Ford and hosted by the Schoharie Promotional Association, the festival runs 10am to 3pm.
More than 70 vendors will pack the park for the festival, which has “Around the World” as a theme.
That theme carries through the entertainment, with Burke Herrick singing international songs at 10:30, the Hot Pots doing the same at 11, John Gallagher playing bagpipes at noon, the Bethlehem Traditional Irish Dance Group performing at 1, and Gordy Ringer playing German favorites on his accordion at 2.
There will also be a dog show and children’s activities, including a Mexican piñata, face painting, balloon animals, lollipop tree, bubble station and a passport search in which kids get passports stamped from 15 countries.
More than a half-dozen food vendors will also be on hand.
SPA members will dedicate their new 18-by-30-foot pavilion at 10am. It was funded by Nicholas Juried, with site work donated by Vedder Construction.
Paths through the park will encourage visitors to take walks to admire the lilies.
“And of course, the lilies are in full bloom and ready for the festival,” said SPA’s Darlene Patterson, adding that new community gardeners have joined the park
