Sharon man arrested for rape, weapons, more

A Town of Sharon man has been arrested for robbery, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and other charges.
On July 6, State Police arrested Brendon T. Brizzee, 32, of Sharon, and charged him with second degree robbery, second degree burglary, unlawful imprisonment, third degree assault, fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, second degree criminal obstruction of breathing, second degree menacing, and petit larceny.
According to State Police, at 9:47am on July 6 Troopers received the report of a past-occurring assault.
An investigation determined that on June 5, in Sharon, Mr. Brizzee forcibly removed the victim from their vehicle while physically assaulting and stealing several personal items from the victim.
He then held them against their will while brandishing a firearm for a period until the victim was able to eventually flee to safety several hours later, Troopers said.
Following the initial incident, Mr. Brizzee reportedly burglarized the victim’s Fort Plain home and stole items.
The victim was not home at the time of the burglary, Troopers said.
Mr. Brizzee was located in Fort Plain and arrested.
He was transported to State Police Cobleskill for processing and then arraigned at the Sharon Town Court and remanded to the Schoharie County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 cash, a $40,000 bond, or a $100,000 partially secured bond.
