An Albany couple has been arrested for moving into—and damaging—someone else’s home in Cobleskill.
Melissa Johnson, 44, and Jesus I. Lanauze, 58, both of Albany, were both charged with second-degree criminal trespass, two counts of third-degree criminal tampering, and sixth-degree conspiracy following the July 23 investigation.
According to State Police, at about 6:31pm on the 23rd, Troopers responded to a home on State Route 7 in Cobleskill for the reports of a trespass.
The investigation determined Ms. Johnson and Mr. Lanauze had been residing in the unoccupied house without permission from the owner for about a week.
Further investigation discovered the couple had also caused damage to the home and outbuilding.
Both were arrested at the scene and transported to State Police Cobleskill for processing.
They were both issued appearance tickets returnable to the Cobleskill Town Court on August 15 and released.
