Yes, Marshalls is still coming

Rumors that Marshalls department store isn’t coming to Cobleskill aren’t true.
Village Codes Officer Mike Piccolo confirmed Monday that Marshalls is coming, and he dismissed rumors to the contrary that are rampant on social media.
“They’re coming,” Mr. Piccolo said. “I reviewed their signs with them, and they have to come in for a couple of variances.”
The off-price clothing giant will be taking over the Label Shopper site and the three storefronts next to it in the Price Chopper Plaza.
The Everything Shoppe run by the Schoharie County Council of Senior Citizens was in one of the storefronts and moved out in the spring.
Another storefront is vacant, and the Maureen LaRose Barber Agency is in the third. The agency will be moving to the storefront where Gamestop had been.
That move hasn’t happened yet, nor has Marshalls started renovating Label Shopper. The fact that there’s been no activity apparently spawned rumors of the entire deal being off.
But like Mr. Piccolo, people at the insurance agency are sure Marshalls is coming. A spokesperson at the agency said Ms. Barber was aware of the rumors and called the plaza’s owners.
“They told her Marshalls is still coming,” the spokesperson said. “It’s still on. There are just delays.”
Mr. Piccolo agreed. There have been delays in materials and labor, and he doesn’t expect any developments until the end of the year.
