CPI at work on busy fall
9/29/2023 |
Cobleskill Partnership Inc. is planning a busy fall.
The downtown improvement group is hosting Cobleskill Day this Saturday, and other events will follow.
Although in the past Cobleskill Day had events in Veterans’ Memorial Centre Park, this year the feature will be village- and town-wide lawn sales, according to Bruce Tryon, who chairs CPI’s Events Committee.
The sales run 9am to 4pm.
CPI’s fourth annual Poker Walk will be on October 14, with participants aiming to win a $100 prize.
Players purchase a $25 wristband from Mr. Tryon and then visit six taverns and restaurants, receiving a playing card in an envelope––not to be opened––at each establishment.
The Walk starts at Serious Brewing in Howes Cave at 5pm on the 14th for a rules review.
To get the cards and envelopes, players then go to the other five restaurants in any order: Chieftans, Locomotions, Cellar Tavern at the Bull’s Head Inn, American Tavern, and D&H 1929 Grill at the Cobleskill Golf and Country Club.
The best poker hand from the five unknown cards will win $100.
Each restaurant will offer a drink or meal discounted at least $5, Mr. Tryon said.
At the end of the Walk, players will be given a large envelope for their five card/envelopes and will write their name and phone number on the large envelope.
Mr. Tryon will collect the envelopes and determine the winner.
To get a wristband, contact Mr. Tryon at 518-231-7534; or email btryon1@nycap.rr.com or go to the CPI website to pay on line.
CPI will wrap up October with its annual Halloween celebration. Participating downtown businesses will hand out candy in the late afternoon on the 31st.
