Plans came together Friday for Schoharie County’s home-delivered Thanksgiving meals.
Providing holiday meals for more than 30 years, the Thanksgiving Dinner Committee plans on delivering 700 this year, said Colleen Flynn, who’s on the committee.
“We’re in full mode now,” she said.
Rich Benninger and volunteers will do the cooking at the Schoharie County Jail, and drivers will deliver the meals on the holiday.
Drivers delivered 576 meals last year, Ms. Flynn said. The increase this year will help those especially needy.
“The drivers’ biggest takeaway last year was that some people seem to be more needy,” Ms. Flynn said, adding that those people will get two meals.
She’s looking for five volunteers to help on Thanksgiving Day. Her number is 518-944-1284.
Those who want a meal can call the Office for the Aging at 518-295-2001.
Thanksgiving Day Dinners are prepared entirely by donation. To donate, make out a check to Thanksgiving Dinner Committee and mail it to Ms. Flynn at the County Officer of Emergency Services, 2783 State Route 7, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
